About Us
The Hollingsworth family business was started in Francis Street, Dublin, by Joseph Hollingsworth, just after the first World War,. In the early 1920's he moved to St Melrouns in Tallaght for a short period before moving to the Mill Forge in Templeogue. This is where Cheeverstown House is now located on the dual carriageway just up from the Spawell Leisure complex. At this time he was mainly a blacksmith, but fixed bicycles and anything else mechanical. In the early fifties his son Tommy and his wife Elizabeth began the workshop where the shop is located today in Templeogue Village. They also sold and repaired bicycles, motorbikes, cars and did a lot of welding work. They realised by the late fifties that the cycle business had good potential and mainly focussed on the bicycle business from this time onwards. It was in this period they began to start dealing with market-leading companies like Raleigh. During the seventies Tommy's health was not good so it was left for Elizabeth and her two sons Joe and Thomas jnr, who left their jobs to join the family business In the eighties the business became very successful and they became one of the biggest cycle agents in Ireland. In the nineties they opened a second shop in Kilmacud, Dublin, which is run by Joe Over the years, Hollingsworth Cycles have built up a great reputation for delivering excellent products backed up by first class service and excellent repair work. We try to cater for all customers from kids to adults and can also provide expert advice on elite bikes that may be custom built to order. In the future we realise that people are becoming more health conscious and will use bicycles not only to commute, but as a form of fitness and relaxation. Cycling to and from work is as good, if not better, form of healthy living than going to the gym in today's hectic lifestyle. Please feel free to call in to the shop if you have any queries on cycling are would like to receive more information on the vast range of bicycles and accessories that are stocked in either premises. |
